PPM 150: School Food and Beverage Policy…
First year under our belt!
As the first year of PPM 150 (Program Memorandum No. 150: School Food and Beverage Policy) comes to a close, ARAMARK would like to share with our clients, customers, staff and students how honored we feel to have provided healthier food and beverage options to students across Ontario. By working together with suppliers, dietitians and culinary professionals we have been able to significantly reduce the amount of refined sugar available to students and have offered leaner protein alternatives, higher fibre options and cook using improved methods like baking instead of frying contributing to healthier meals overall!
ARAMARK continues to improve the nutritional value of all of our menu items by regularly working with our suppliers to introduce delicious and nutritious alternatives year over year that are lower in fat and sodium. For instance, our “sell most” whole wheat hamburger and hot dog buns now contain 25% to 30% less sodium per serving compared to amounts outlined in September 2011! This is just one example of how ARAMARK works diligently with our suppliers to improve the nutrition of our menu options. We are excited for the new year ahead and look forward to adding to the variety of healthier choices available to you in September 2012!
